About:
An interplay between a four-channel sound and live performers who respond in diverse ways to the prerecorded sounds and to each other. Imitation, contradiction, and independence variously guide the performers in an evolving strategy for penetrating the growing authority of the tape. The tape is the metaphoric "mask". The title comes from The Quarterdeck
chapter of Melville's Moby Dick.
