About:
Imagination unspent and curiosity as keen as ever, Roger Reynolds continues to write music that explores how sound can reflect, question, and transform experience. The two works gathered on this album, both of recent vintage, show that his experimental fervor remains undimmed—the fire still fed by an ever-renewing fuel.

‘Ō‘ō and WISDOM’s Sources reveal a late style not of summation but of renewed appetite: each discovers, in sound—and, in the case of WISDOM’s Sources, in image as well—a way of thinking through the conditions of being alive in the 21st century. At the same time, the two works are of special importance for the composer, “in two distinctive, quasi non-musical ways,” as he puts it. Together, they testify to the depth of his friendships and the range of his imagination.
